Anyone ever use rosemary wood for smoking? Not the leaves, the wood. I've got lots of 1"-2" trimmings from our huge rosemary bush and was thinking of trying it as smokewood with some lamb or pork. If anyone has any prior experience I'd like to hear about it before I ruin a nice hunk of meat.

I haven't, but I think I would not consider using it based on its similarity to the woods from needle-bearing trees-- those being unsuitable or potentially dangerous.

Andrew,

Rosemary wood would be great for grilling but I think the flavor would be too strong for smoking. There are however, people who prefer a strong flavor on thier smoke, but I think if you took a poll, most people would bow out.
