It goes far deeper than that. I think the beef with JD and some other companies Te$la comes to mind is that they lock down all the troubleshooting codes. So unlike say, I get a CEL on my Highlander. And, Toyota has all of that "locked down" so I cannot hook up a scanner and notice it's due to a bad O2 sensor. Some companies are locking down things that tightly. So now I am forced to only use a Toyota dealer for my troubleshooting and repair. Rather than simply get another part and install it or have another independent shop repair the issue
