Ribs & Chicken no water pan ???

Has anyone cooked both ribs(spares) and chicken(lg qtrs) without a water pan at the same time ?
Ribs on top I suppose. I have 2 cooking racks put together with the treaded rod method. any info appreciated, I want to cook tomorrow. John
 
Sounds solid to me John. Anything that your worried about? I'd start the ribs long before the chicken. What temp you planning on cooking at? Trying to figure out how much time the chicken will take at X temp so the ribs and chicken finish close to the same time. Chicken will beifit from the empty water pan right below it.

Planning on cooking about 325 ish. I'm a little worried about all the fat dripping on the charcoal, maybe too much smoke ? Maybe too much flair ups ? Even though I'l be cooking on the top grate and the upper deck (threaded cooking grate). john
