Rib Prices

Greetings-

Was wondering what is a good price for Spares and Baby Backs. I saw Spares (not St. Louis Cut) and Baby Backs in Cryovac for 1.89 and 2.59 a lb. respectively at Costco. Is this a decent price?

Haven't bought any spares yet, but the price for the BBs is great! I usually pay $3.87/lb at Sam's Club.

I see spares go on sale at local supermarkets for 99? /lb. every now and then, so you may be able to do better there.

But $2.59 for BB's is pretty darn good. As long as they are "meaty" that should be good. I tend to have better results with racks that are around 2 lbs each.

This is a pretty good time of year to stock up on ribs. As hog slaughter increases to meet the anticipated demand for Easter hams, the packers are left with more ribs and loins as by-products. Stores usually cut prices to move this excess rather than load up their own freezers.
