RETAIL source of smoking wood in MA?

I just entered an order at barbecuewood.com and got a look at the shipping. Ouch. Is there anywhere in Massachusetts, southern VT or eastern NY where I can buy good smoking woods retail?

(and please don't say "the hardware store"...I've been to my local and it's all good as long as you want hickory or mesquite chips)

Cabela's is supposed to be opening a store in East Hartford, CT fall of 2007. (Looks like we're getting one in Gonzales, halfway up the road to Baton Rouge someday, too.)

Try calling some local orchards to see if you can get some wood trimmings from them. I used to buy some apple and peach from a veg stand on the mohawk trail. I don't think it is going to open this year, but try the orchards. usually the prices are real low I used to get an overflowing bushel basket of small logs for $4.00. also check with friends who own land I just got a couple of apple limbs that came down in a storm from some friends. the best smoke wood is free smoke wood.
