I went over to a home close by where a young couple who where moving and having a baby in August were selling a Silver C for $50 in rough shape. They also showed me their "new" curb pickup grill, a newer all-stainless Genesis they planned to use but the wife was bummed out that the lid over-rotated completely over the backside of the firebox. I looked closely and saw that the cast aluminum lid cams, through some sort of trama, completely "punched through" both right and left edges of the firebox. The husband suspected it may have happened when it was thrown out on the curb. Since the cams on the hood could not stop, the lid just kept going over the backside. I told them I thought I could fix it and here is what I did: I patched both sides of the back side of the firebox edge with a short piece of heavy stock 1/4" aluminum and secured it in the firebox with stainless steel screws, washers and nuts. It worked great. I put some photos below. They were going to pay me but I just told them it was a house warming present and don't worry about it. I just got a FB Market dm message from the wife. She said I can have the Silver C for free and even said I can have a stainless steel Genesis two burner their parents were giving away. I think I will take the C for the nice hood it has for another project. But as far as two burners go, I love my present Silver A and not going to swap it out for the Spirit. Maybe I can find the Spirit a home for someone or just save it for our local block parties. Right now I'm working on a Silver B for a friend and another Silver B for myself. Anyway, my wife is coming home tomorrow from a girls weekend out of town
