Removing Bottom Vent Assembly - Summit S6

Before I jump in and break something (I've been known to do that time to time) is there any trick to completely removing the bottom vent system on the Summit S6? It's not some weird permanent mount or anything?

It's leaking air and I know I can just "bend" the foils using a wooden stick, but it seems to be coming from closer to the axle itself. I've done the wood wedge trick a few times and afraid I'm stressing things out. I would rather remove, proper bend and replace if possible...

I did my E6 and it wasn't easy. There must be a trick. The old style with the thumb screw was easier. I didn't presoak with any penetrating oil, that probably would help. I would also say buy the replacement kit from Weber, I tested the removed parts with a magnet and OEM parts are stainless steel.
