I put together a Ver 4.3 board and was having trouble with the fan always staying on. It turns out Q1 was pushed over and the center lead had come out of the base. See post https://tvwbb.com/showthread.php?68203-Fan-Won-t-Shut-Off.
I replaced Q1 and the fan was working properly. I put the board back in the case that I had gotten from the HeaterMeter store and the fan stayed on again. I took it apart and Q1 was pushed over a bit and the center leg was pulled out. The case does have a small lip right near Q1 but not sure if that caused it to move. I thought about grinding that lip off but am leaning towards possibly relocating Q1.
Anyone have any thoughts about me soldering wires to the BS170 Q1, soldering the wires to the board and then gluing Q1 to the side of the raspberry PI pin header?
