Redhead hunt is over

I wouldn't pay $100 just for the grill, but the "Grill Grates" cost something pretty close to that alone I think.

Yeah I definitely went after it for the value of the other items that came with it, grill grates are expensive and I have never used a set before. I can always use more propane tanks. They also delivered it to me, which was a surprise considering they are an hour and a half away.

Nice score. Around here and in Phoenix $100 for A Genesis 1000 is a bargain now, everyone thinks their clapped out genesis is a treasure.
Most are asking in the $125-175 range. With what you got with it that was a great deal.
The grill grates cost 90, the Weber covers aren't cheap, neither are stainless flavor bars, the drip pan is in great shape as well, I feel like I got the grill for free and paid for the accessories. Needs some work, but in the end it will make a nice addition to the collection.

Planning to keep it?
I picked it up last night. Didn’t take any pictures unfortunately and the CL poster deleted the listing. The frame and manifold are in very good shape. The shelves look like cedar from a distance but I think they are painted. The end caps and firebox have the white coating that is common. It did cone with two sets of grates. Cast iron and steel. The steel ones are shot.

As soon as I got there, I immediately got to work to dismantle the grill. I’m getting the hang of it as this is my fourth pickup. I did have trouble getting one burner tube off. Probably needs penetrating oil.

I’ll try to take some photos once I get it out of my car later today.

It will turn out great, looking forward to the pictures.

The screws that hold the burner tube on at the left side of the grill are not to be tightened when putting it together. They are only screwed in partially and used only as guides to put in the burners. When removing the burners it is best to remove the manifold on the right and then slide out the burners to the right. It is not necessary to remove the screws on the left.

Those screws on the left should not be removed. As you say, they just hold the tubes in place and are not designed to be removed. Most of the time if you try to remove them, they will twist off.

Exactly what I meant Bruce, Thanks.

Here are pictures of the red head I picked up on Sunday. I’m getting to be a pro at dismantling them quickly to fit into my car. The frame is in great shape. Flavorizer bars are shot. The shelving is in poor shape and the pull up table is missing. The manifold is in great shape. Not bad for $0 and 90 minutes of round trip driving.

Bill if that Grease tray is as good as it appears to be, you have a winner there. That alone is a deal breaker.
