I'm planning on smoking a rump roast or chuck roast for Father's Day. I plan on using a marinade over night. Any recommendations as to type of roast for smoking and proper temp?

Chuck roast for sure, make your rub on the roast right before you put it on. Salt, pepper, garlic, onion, etc.......... Cook indirect at 250 til 160ish internal then put on top of a alum pan with your veggies uncovered for 30 min with beef broth or stock then tightly foil for another hour at 300+ and start checking for tender then and every 30 after.

I have very little regard for "rump" roasts. Should all be painted white and used for soccer.
Check THIS out.
I followed this pretty closely, even used the recommended spice mix.
Easy to do and great comfort food for the meat and 'taters kind of guy.
