Recipe suggestions for rib flavor alternatives

I'd like to do some ribs ala non-traditional. I'm thinking of some kind of spicy Hawaiian something or other.

Any suggestions?

Here's something different. You'll need to adapt for the WSM.

BAHAMA RIBS

INGREDIENTS:

3 slabs (4-5 lbs.) of baby back ribs
4 cups green onions
1/4 cup fresh thyme leaves
2 Tbs. vegetable oil
1 Tbs. pepper
1 Tbs. coriander
3 Tbs. peeled ginger root
2 Tbs. fresh lime juice
2 Tbs. salt
2 Tbs. allspice
1 Tbs. nutmeg
1 Tbs. cinnamon
5 cloves garlic, chopped
3 bay leaves
1 jabanero pepper

Barbecue sauce of your choice

DIRECTIONS:

Add all ingredients except barbecue sauce together in a food processor and mix to form a paste. Rub paste over ribs until completely covered. Put ribs in sealed plastic bag and refrigerate for 1 hour.

Heat grill. On a medium flame, grill ribs for 25 minutes on each side. Remove from grill. Brush on barbecue sauce and cover. Bake in 350 degree oven for 30 minutes and serve!

NOTE: The recipe didn't say, but put on rack in covered pan to bake?
