Re spraying firebox question.

Hey guys,

So I had a local sandblaster do my firebox. I then sprayed it with Rustoleum High Heat. It is a little to gray for my liking. My question is if I were to just buy stove bright or another spray and just spray right over it without sandblasting it again. How will it hold up, will the top layers start flaking on me? Wanted to see if any of you had experience doing it.

No, as long as you did a good prep before using the Rusto paint and the paint is clean when you put the StoveBright over it, you should be fine.

Yah, just keep the fresh Rustoleum paint clean and you should be able to drop a couple coats of Stovebright over that, no problem.

Yep, it does come out a bit more gray than I would like, but it works well for me. You should consider the Stovebright Charcoal #6201 color. I used it on a Genesis II cook box and was really impressed with how it looked. Just too expensive for rehabs.
