Question about wind

So I have seen some mention that when its windy outside they find it difficult to keep the temps up in their WSM. I always thought that by adding wind (oxygen) to a flame, it gets hotter. Like trying to start a campfire and blowing on the embers. I guess I have been wrong all these years. Glad I was not a boyscout.

Adding air to the WSM with a fan like the BBQ guru or stoker will increase the heat of the fire by stoking it, but having the WSM outside on a windy day without a wind break will essentially suck the heat right out of the cooker faster than it stokes the fire.

Hope that's clear.
