i was reading the product info linked on the homepage and I'm not sure but did the 22.5 version debut in 2008 with plastic handles? did they ever have any 22.5's with wood handles?

Late 2008 or early 2009 is when I recall the 22.5 WSM appearing. I remember that I bought my Cajun Bandit conversion package in May 2009 and Chris, one of the two owners of Cajun Bandit, told me they had been planning the Cajun bandit for about a year and didn't know that Weber would be launching a 22.5" version at the same time.

As for the handles. I don't think Weber ever had a 22.5 incher with wooden handles.

The 22 is only a couple years old. They never used plastic handles. anything uou want to know about that model, you i can prolly tell you.

As I recall, all Weber cookers have had plastic handles since 2000.

Of course, that doesn't prevent you from retrofitting wood handles. Someone posted how they made their own very nice ones.
