Q1200 Find

Bought this at REI today for $120. It was a return because it didn’t get hot. Took a chance and bought it. Looks like it was cooked on once and then returned. I hooked up a 1 lb propane bottle at it would get to 400 and no higher. I tried to register it but whoever originally bought it registered it also so Weber would not let me register it again as they considered it used. I’m assuming the regulator is the culprit. I took a chance that the original owner didn’t register it but they did. Oh well. I think I still got a good deal. Just don’t want to put much money in it as that would negate what I paid for it. Any ideas?

Maybe someone with a Q will let you "test drive" a known working regulator?

First thing to do would be to observe the flames in the dark. Are they low and get weak when you dial them down? Are they yellow or blue? Blue with an occasional yellow tip is ok.

Don't go by the gauge. Actually cook on it. Then judge it

Yah, mine maxes out at 400 on the lid thermometer as well. It can burn a burger just as well as my Genesis.

Keep in mind that it will take a while for the grill to hit full temp as well. Don't turn it on and throw burgers on 5 minutes later.
