I got a DigiQ DX2 from BBQ Guru, and was planning on using it to smoke a butt this weekend for a get-together at our house, so I fired up the WSM today (empty) to do a test run to see how it worked and iron out any bugs beforehand.
It seemed to work really well getting the smoker up to temp and I wandered off for a bit to do some other things around the house. I heard beeping and went to check on it and the control unit had jacked the pit temp setting up to 475, the max temp the unit will go to. I would try to adjust it down and the unit would scroll right back up to 475. I finally reset the thing by unplugging it and starting over. So I left it alone for a bit and went back into the house. I also had my wireless maverick hooked up to the smoker to see what the temp is (I had it set to 250), and noticed that the temp was 280, so I went back to check on it again. Again the temp had set itself back to 475. At this point I just unhooked everything and shut it all down.
I went inside and called BBQ Guru and got shunted to voicemail, which hasn't been answered yet, of course. Has anyone else heard of/had this issue? Am I simply doing it wrong or is there something wrong with my unit? If I don't get a callback tomorrow, I'll call them until I get a real person to talk to.
