The "crashed or smashed" taters you see poppin up on here calls for a par-boil of some type.
You can just cook indirect on the kettle for about 45 -60 min and get the same results with a nice smoke flavor..

Corey I usually nuke mine just a few minutes (depending on the size), because usually when I have potatoes I have steak, which is not a very long grilling time. I guess it depends on what you are going to grill. However it is interesting to know that a lot of the professionals here don't do any precooking.Good question I have always wondered that when I see their pics of their cooks.
