I've recently seen on here people talking about Pork Steaks. I've never heard of them until today reading some post's sounds de lish. Anybody have any rubs they like to use? How about a done temperature, what should I be shooting for?
I love pork, hogs smell better BBQed:)
Any guidance for this would be greatly appreciated. I'm headed to the butcher Thursday or Friday and I'll post some pics.

Gene, pork steaks are basically a pork butt sliced into steaks. Use whatever you'd use on pork or beef for that matter as far as a rub is concerned. They will cook fast depending on the thickness so watch carefully. I like to marinate mine and throw them on the grill. The grandkids love these. Of course they love pulled pork also. Tough choice ,slice into steaks or smoke the whole butt:confused:

I've never smoked them to be honest. Usually just throw them on the gasser at about 400. They're done in no time. I really like to marinade prior to cooking. It's a relatively quick cook.Just make sure you watch when to flip them over.

I just use salt & pepper. Maybe a little montreal seasoning or garlic powder. Grill direct, keep flipping and moving to cook them all even, until the meat starts pulling away from the bone. Just like a pork butt. Some people simmer in sauce until tender. We like it with a little chew to it.

I do them indirect on the grill for about 45 min, then sauce 'em and put them in a BBQ-sauced casserole dish, cover with foil and put them in the oven at 275 degrees for about one hour. That's how my dad does it, that's how I do it, it just works out for us!
