Please Help With Griddle to Fit Genesis Silver B Series

Please help....tomorrow is my sister's birthday. She has had a Weber Genesis Silver B that she's had for 20 yrs, works perfect and that she LOVES (pic 2 and 3 below). At my local overstock/liquidators, they have ONE griddle available for sale that I think would be an awesome gift for her (pic 1). Only problem is I don't know whether it would fit. The cost is $165 and it's NOT returnable. The handwritten tag taped on the griddle box with price says compatible with Genesis 400 series. I have attached a photo of it in the store but it's kind of far away even if zoomed up. Should I chance getting stuck with it if it doesn't fit? AND having to go hunt another gift. LOL

I called Weber directly and the guy told me dimensions on the Genesis Silver B are 17.2 x 11.73 and that the full size griddle would fit. I'm still skeptical.

The dimensions that Weber gave you are the grate size, and there are two grates, so that would be 17.2" x 23.46". If the griddle is that dimension externally, then it will likely fit, although the lid may or may not close. The other thing I would look for is how the grease is managed...is there a provision for grease collection?

But with this info, I say no.

As noted in your first thread the photo is for an entire griddle not just an insert. Were you planning on buying the entire griddle and taking the griddle portion off?

I didn't buy it. It's too big.
The griddle insert for the Genesis 400 series is too big, 32.67"W x 18.67"D. The one you need is for Spirit and Searwood grills. The dimensions for that one are 22.67"W x 17.29"D. I bought that one last year and it fits my Silver B.
This is SUPER helpful, thank you! When I google it, I see them from $150 - $219. That's a huge price difference?!?! Can you share what yours cost and/or a link to where you purchased it? VERY much appreciated!

Thank you!

@Heather King perhaps a blackstone griddle would be a good gift?

I'll be honest I've thought of buying a griddle, but I'm not sure where I would store the griddle when I'm not using it.

Just tossing out ideas to help other people spend money :)
I know there are true griddles which are unto themselves but I'm basically looking for a griddle tray that will go over the regular grates so you can cook veggies, etc like a hibachi on it. And then could store it in the grill when not in use.

If you want something that replaces the grates as well as being able to sit on top of the grates, there are GrillGrates®, which are anodized aluminum panels, interlocking and reversible, but have slots evenly spaced across.

I have these, enjoy them and they work very well.

There is also a plethora of cast iron inserts available on Amazon, but I think these may be insert only and I'm not sure they will sit on top of the grates:

I bought it through Amazon on June 6, 2024. At the time it was $149.00. If I remember correctly Weber was doing a special where all griddle inserts were $50 off.
