Pit probe placement

Hi all, hope everyone is well. I'm cooking some delicious looking baby back ribs and have a question about pit probe placement. I've set my WSK for low n slow with a Fireboard thermometer. I had the pit probe in the clip at the front of the grate. Was reading about 290F. The dome thermometer much lower about 225F. The cook seemed a bit slow so I investigated and moved the probe (in clip) to back of grate. Immediately the Fireboard starting reading more like the dome thermometer at around 225F. Any ideas why this is? Likely I've been cooking for the last couple of hours 50F lower than I thought! Thanks!

I think we'd need to know more about where the coal is lit with regards to the deflector and all, but I usually put my temp probe towards the back of the WSK with the probe wire coming in near the seam of the gasket.

I haven't checked other grate positions for the sensor.
