Weber called it Durawood. It's really up to you and your personal preference. One of mine I picked up in like new condition with durawood I originally planned to change out for high-end wood because woodworking is one of my favorite parts but it was so nice and in perfect condition that I wanted to keep it Weber factory original. Plus it will never rot away which is a bonus. A down side is that it can melt if it comes in contact with high heat from the side of the cookbox or BBQ utensils etc. That said changing it out for nice hardwood can be very desirable and rewarding also.

I might just keep it! It cleans up real nice but there are 2 or 3 burn (melted) spots on it. I might just flip them over and fill the screw holes!

Great info! Yea, mine has a couple of melted spots on the side table. I’ll try to clean them up and if not, I’ll probably flip them over and fill in the screw holes. Not sure yet what would make me happier but I guess that’s the joy of the whole thing. I’m definitely keeping this one!
If some of your slats are damaged you could also consider asking if someone on here has any extra durawood slats that they could sell you just to replace the damaged ones. Not sure how perfect you are trying to make it.
