They are the same. While they look nice, they are prone to melting if you have a grill hot enough.. They may actually have them in different styles and colors.. Here we go again!
I like the way it looks on this Master Touch. Since I am rebuilding one I thought it would be a nice extra and besides I hate burning my fingers on the vent whenever I adjust it. Does anyone have an extra one they are willing to part with?

Weber sells them for like $3 bucks. They are nice to have. They come on the performer. I was happy to get them. Maybe I can engineer a wood one. I think I would have to bolt it on. I would end up having to drill the tab on the vent wheel. The part is cast in a way so it snaps on over those two dimples in the wheel. Not sure it's worth engineering a wood version
i'm thinking more of a piece of wood that just cover's the tab. no angling or such. the slot should be just small enough to slip on tightly. otherwise it could be to big and look out of place.

Thanks Brian, I think I will get a couple from Weber. That is unless someone here has an extra.
