Other than kettle color, does Weber make - or have they ever made - more than one model of the Performer?

To add to what terry said, yes they make 3 different models and have for the past few years. Here is a side by side comparison:
In the first generation 1990-2004 and two most recent generations performers (2010 - ) There has been a gas assist version and non gas assist versions of the performer .
Im not sure if there was a non gas assist version from 2005-09.

There were earlier versions of the Performer as well. They had a stainless steel top.
This is the model without the gas assist. Notice that it doesn't have front casters.
This model does have the gas assist (and it does have casters in front).
Just to complicate matters though, Weber sold some grills with tables that weren't part of the Performer line.
Here's one version of the One Touch Platinum: Note that the table sticks out well past the front legs.
