Picked up a used Performer on CL. Need any suggestions on how to restore the plastic leg frame bracket. At first look it seems like oxidation, but it seems to have some texture to it.

Without just getting a new one from Weber or donor grill?
Maybe sanding with some fine grit and paint the plastic.
It looks like its been burnt/melted to me…..about the size of a chimney😀

I agree, chimney melt. I’m surprised I have not done that to mine in all the time I’ve had it! I think if it were me, I’d see how miserably expensive the part is then go visit my cabinet maker buddy and make one out of “something“ from his massive scrap stock... I might do that anyway!

It kind of make sense from what you guys suggested about being burnt from the chimney. Will at least do fine sanding to level off the rough areas and live with it. If I do take it to the next level, I don't have a heat gun or a torch and a hair dryer might not be hot enough or take a really long time. Appreciate all your help!

Update: Just sanded the area and it looks fine. Onward to grilling!
