Pellet smoker gone awry


 
You had me fooled for a minute. I originally thought it happened to you. Then I recalled seeing that post on FB a while back. Like any other grill it's a lesson. Maintenance is key to a good experience, and a good outcome
 
I had a close one with my EX6 the other day doing some pastrami.
Took out the grates and flavorizer bars, burn pot shroud and cover. Gave it a good scrape down ( I do use drip trays )
and pushed everything down the drain holes. Vaced and reassembled, got distracted and forgot to dump the ash drawer.
After awhile while waiting for it to come up to temperature I noticed smoke coming out of the ash drawer.
The grease and ash caught fire and was smoldering. Good thing I was around and caught it before it really took off.
