When beer caning a chicken is the paint on the beer can an issue, or should you use a soup can as someone suggested.

Charlie I've done beer can chicken using a beer can several times. I didn't have any problems or notice any off taste. It really isn't a paint on the lable, it is ink. The inside of the can is sprayed with an epoxy. The can is sent through two ovens at 500*-600*. One to dry the ink and the second one to cure the epoxy. All the materials are food grade. Smoke and enjoy.

i saw an article on this concern once and even seen this used as a selling pint for the $20 dollar chicken holders. I have done a ton of these and never had the paint come off yet.

I've done several butt can chickens and have had no after taste and the ink seems to stay on the can. Try putting diced peaches with syrup in the can, or any other fruit.
