Outdoor freezer???

I find myself running out of freezer space but with no more room in the house to put a smallish box freezer. At one time we had a fridge in the garage but after some remodeling, it got turned into inside and seemed to do ok. in a hot Florida garage, but I'm sure my electric bill showed it. Anyway, no more room in house or garage, but I could stick one out back that the wife "might" allow if we kinna hide it somewhat, cover etc. Anyway, anyone do this in a hot climate, like Florida, where it lasted a number of years etc. etc. First off, a storage for ice and bait for fishing and then longer term storage of certain food, and specials on meats etc. I just bought 10 racks of ribs on sale, and having a real tough time getting them in the freezer without annoying the "unit" too much:(...................................d

I have two upright freezers outside under a shed. Also a fridge. Have not had any trouble with them in a couple of years, other than these dang hurricanes knocking out the power.
It gets warm here in South Louisiana, and the humidty stays fairly high also.

Yea, I hear 'ya on the hurricanes. I hate to stock up the freezer too much this time of year....................d

Unless you are on the beach/shore/bay you should be OK. The biggest problem you face is from the heat Vs running a frig. Hurricanes are a pain, but it beats tornados and earthquakes and snow.

That is part of my problem, I live across the street from the beach so I have lots of salt air. If I get one for outside, I do have a place that is sheltered from a east wind, has good cover, and in fact, the only place where I have an electrical outlet. I did find that units for outdoors are made, stainless with all the correct UL codes, but way more expensive than a normal freezer. I'm thinking, something has to go in the garage to make way for a small box unit.)))))):::::::::::::::::::::::> d

If you put a freezer or refrigerator on an outdoor outlet that is protected by a ground-fault circuit interrupter, keep a close eye on it. If the GFCI trips you could lose all your food. Our new refrigerator tripped the GFCI in the kitchen every time the automatic defrost cycle began.
