I have had my 22" for about 6 months now, and have always used a lid from a performer to shut the cooker down. This weekend I just shut the vents and came back out a few hours later to find it still going strong. I figured it was the bottom of the middle section that was out of round, but it was within 1/8". Measured the top and it was 3/4" out of round. I guess that's why I am always have to slam the lid on. If the whole section was out of round, I figure I could have worked it back to close, but since it was only the top I called Weber CS. They are sending me a new middle section, be here in 7-10 days.
Only thing is now I have to drill holes again for my probe vents and my extra grate, and get a nice seasoning on the new middle section.
