OTG Kettle thermometer question

Hey Gang

Newbie here and posted my 1st cook on my brand new OTG the other day in the pic section.

Have a quick question to you all.......the thermometer on the new OTG's, are they any good? This is the 1st time that I bought one that has one in the lid.

As you all will come to learn, I'm far from a perfectionist when it comes to cooks, whether grilling or smoking, but I'd like to know if it's "close enough"

I'm doing a small rib smoke for the family tomorrow and I cant find my old thermometer.

Thanks for any help!!!!

Tony

Sure. It's going to give you a reasonably close reading on the temperature at the dome. That may be a little different from the temp at the grate, but BBQ doesn't require the precision of a rocket launch. If you can get the dome temp somewhere between 225 and 275, you should turn out some pretty good ribs.

Thanks Harold......the exact answer I was looking for.

I have no doubt we'll be eating well tomorrow night.....hopefully I can post some pics......18 packs of Coors are on Sale locally( NOT LIGHT.....YUCK)....lol
