Will the ash catcher from a one touch gold fit as a replacement for the silver. I have an old silver but that catch tray sux after using the catch can on my performer.

I hate the gold ash catcher!

I always have to wrestle with it everytime I empty it. I like the silver disk better.

My dog likes the silver ash catcher too!
Personally, I hate it, ashes and wind don't mix.

Mike, it can be converted. It can be easy or it can be a bit more trouble, it all depends on how new your Weber is. Do a search and yuo will see numerous posts on it.

The whole one touch system is a joke...You can only remove ash 1/3 of the ash at any time....So how do you remove the rest? scrap or dump..Your only option

Yeah sometimes ya gotta wrestle with those ash pots...I find that you have to get it lined up on the ring then pushup and twist the pan....don't use the lever...just grab the pan, line it up...push up and twist.
I find I have more success when I do it from the other side from where the handle is.

This is on a performer which has the same set-up as the gold.

Cheers

when i first got my performer the ring was SLIGHTLY out of round, which made putting the ash pan kinda tricky.

once i reshaped it, i haven't had ANY issues.
it is one of the new black ones though, might be more precise than the old ones.

My OTG ash pan was also a real PITA to get on an off. I just figured that's how the danged thing worked, until I read this post.
Did mine the same, and it works sweet!

No problem with mine. As far as getting the ash out... I just slide the vent lever back and forth a few times and that pretty much does it. My can comes right out. It couldn't be easier.

I use a Brinkman water pan as the ash catcher on my OTS. It's very deep so the ashes don't blow around much. I find I only need to empty it after 3 or so cooks.
