OMS Sauce vs Construction Adhesive?

We had some friends over for the game yesterday and I made some OMS wings. My arms got tired of using the tongs (never thought I'd see the day) so I used a spoon to put on the second coat. I still had em over indirect heat and some sauce dripped down in the kettle thus welding the dampers to the kettle. Larry Wolfe is the first guy I saw use this and he is obviously a trained professional. I am an ameteur at best. All I'm sayin here people is use caution! This stuff is serious juju!!!

Guess I'll fire it up tonight and try to burn it off.

Only once have I had to replace the one-touch system in any of my kettles...and it was because of the OMS sauce. That stuff is like cement...delicious, delicious cement.

Foiled my bottom grate AND used a disposable aluminum drip pan...getting ready to clean my OTG soon as I post my pix in a new thread.

Foil, schmoil! You guys are making me tired....

When you're done doing the OMS wings or anything sticky or greasy, open the bottom vents 100% and spread the coals to the 'dirty' side and let the grill clean itself. It will all burn off and be ready for your next meal and nothing will be stuck.

Yea that is a good advice larry i always put my heat area in the same spot and the grease build up in the indirect area needs to be burnt off once in a while.

Reminds me of the wok when i placed the coal in the middle and had a greas fire while cooking

Better to have it burn while you dont need to stir

I use foil every time I do these.

I should really clarify this, Every time AFTER the first time.

Well folks, I'm happy to report that after a two chimney burn, a little scrubbing, and some smoke, she is resting comfortably and should make a full recovery. The damper(is that what I should call it?) works better now than it ever has!

What if you don't like orange marmalade?

Dave at your age, I'm sure you're only able to make PMS.......'Prune Marmalade Sriracha' sauce any ways, so you're safe!

A geriatric baste might be something like 2 parts Geritol, 2 parts multi vitamins (ground) 4 parts Jack Daniels.

I think you're onto something! But I would add a baby aspirin as well!

That's OK, Dan - you didn't need that arm-hair anyway! (but I hope you still have eyebrows...)

And it would take some Mighty Tasty construction adhesive to compare with Larry's recipe! (I've accidentally tried a little "Liquid nails" and it's not even CLOSE!)

Yeah Ron, Wolgast must have taken his picture that he posted here right after that fire!!! I wondered what could have possibly happened to that guy!
