Hello fellow Weber-ites! I'm a 3rd generation Weber kettle owner, making the switch to a Weber gas grill just recently. I'm a Coast Guard veteran, living in Fort Myers FL, and my wife and I were starting in pursuit of the liveaboard boat dream when Hurricane Ian ended that chapter. Prior to Ft Myers, and boat life, I owned a succession of 5 Weber kettles, none of which actually ever cost me a dime! Glad to be part of the community, and who here remembers the Weber Grill Decency League, under the auspices of Chuck U. Rgill, President and GrillMaster?
I have grilled, smoked, and seared on the kettles, and now am working on a functional refurbishment of a Weber Genesis Platinum that I just determined was built in 2001. When we moved into our post-Ian rental, our friends that leased it to us said "the grill works-sort of". So a new igniter, grease pan, new bolts and nuts, and a thorough scraping/wire brushing later, I am about to hang a new tank and try it out! Look forward to seeing what others have done, and in the meantime, "Lets Cook!"
