I noticed on my 1999 Genesis 1000, that on the original burners, the 'center' burner had the gas ports all along the sides, and the crossover tube was a bit differently mounted to the center burner. On the new burners the center tube has the ports all along the top. Dont have any temp data from the original config as I replaced when I puchased on CL and rehabed. Has anyone noticed any temp differences in the different possition of the ports? Just wondering.

I have noticed this and is a big concern of mine. I actually retrofitted the old middle burner to work with my new burner set, so i have brand new outer tubes and crossover tube. It was really easy to mod, just had to use a jigsaw to widen the slot on the middle burner tube by about 1/8".
I really prefer the wider lower flame to the new tall flame. 4 different grills ive seen with the newer burner (one being a brand new middle burner) and the flame was really tall with lots of orange, just didnt sit right with me.
