NYC Rib Report

Tried the much-hyped Blue Smoke last night (27th St.) and I have to say that the Kansas City ribs, while not BRITUs, were excellent - much better than Dinosaur, Daisy Mae and the dreaded Virgils.

Good to hear it -- I went there shortly after they opened, and while the sides were wondrous, the ribs weren't anything special. I had heard that they had improved, and it's nice to have that confirmed.

And I hear that YET ANOTHER BBQ place is opening (this one's in the Village, I think). With all this competition, NYC may actually become a reasonable place to pick up some Q!

correct me if im wrong, but there really hasnt been many reall BBQ joints in NY until quite recently. IS there a reason for this sudden influx or am i just plain out wrong....

enjoy the food

No correction needed, ubtill recently building code regulations were too prohibitive and costly to deal with. Once the first one opened, it eased the applications of subsequentapplicants.
