Non Weber Rotisserie

I hope I am in the right area for this, I got a Master Forge Rotisserie for $10 from Lowes, was $59.99 marked down. I want to know if anyone has a way to use this on a 22" kettle? It is a universal up to 33" unit, I don't have a ring, I want to know if anyone has a way of maybe cutting into the bowl or any suggestion on how to use this. Thanks in advance.

Sam, you only have the spit rod? No ring.... hmmm... if you cut into your kettle, the rod may be too low (in my opinion) to the heat source (direct or indirect)...
some folks have made their own Roti ring...
I'm thinking you'd need a ring...

I think one of our friends made a ring out of a section of a 55gal drum. If you can cut the drum that sounds like a possibility

I'm thinking I could cut into the bowl section on each side, say an inch. Attach the brackets to the bowl, I made a ring out of flashing, but am scared to use it because of the negative thing about the galvanized steel issues.

Thanks, this was what I was talking about. I figured I could drill the holes and use when needed. When not in use I could use a nut, bolt, and couple of big washers to seal the holes.

Sam I would get a ring. The solution suggested above would be very difficult to use because you would have to thread the rod through one hole in the grill, then add your meat to the spit rod, and then thread the rod through the other hole and into the motor. All of this would have to be done with hot coals already in the grill or you would have to pour your hot coals in past the meat (neither strikes me as a lot of fun). The rings (I bought one from Weber but many prefer the Cajun Bandit brand) have a slot on one side which makes loading the grill simple and safe.

Regards,

John
