Absolutely to both! Sometimes simple is better! You can even add honey or brown sugar to the rub and sauce if you like.

I would add brown sugar and make sure the garlic is not garlic SALT and whatever wet sauce they like.

I'll second that. I've seen my Stepdaughter over the years pile on the Siracha and Tabasco on hot wings and tacos like you wouldn't believe. My mouth burned just watching her eat the stuff.
