In a previous thread, Teddy Bear says "At catering supply places they have chaffing dish heaters that are not Sterno but kind of look like it. There is a screw cap which reveals a wick. They burn much longer than Sterno which is why caters love them and they can be re-used until the fuel runs out. They work great for starting a Chimney, just not as fast as a propane fish fryer."
Teddy Bear is absolutely right! To his statement, I'd add "100% more reliable than a newspaper start!"
At a local restaurant supply, I found some Sterno Wick Chafing Fuel (about 8 ounces) which claims a 6-hour wick. I've only used it twice and I'm sold! I just leave it under my Weber chimney for about 10 minutes, remove it, and let my 15 coals finish firing up on their own about10-15 minutes more and I'm ready to go.
