Newer to Grilling

Hi folks! I'm Diana, straight from the suburbs of Chicago. I just recently started grilling. Usually I'd have someone else do the grilling but thought it was time to be self sufficient. So far I've cooked burgers, dogs, brats and most recently carne asada on the grill. That was AWESOME. I have a propane grill at home but did the carne asada at a friend's on their weber charcoal grill. Now that was different, and I almost think I liked the steak better on the charcoal weber than I do on my propane at home! Yum!

I am curious though if anyone has any tips on winterizing my propane grill. I guess we haven't done it right the past couple of years. I had nearly a full propane tank when I turned the valve to off in the fall. Last month when I went to grill for my first time the tank was empty! What a waste of money. I had the valve turned completely tight so I'm not sure if I'm missing another step for the fabulous Chicago winters. Any thoughts?

So far I've done my introduction, asked a question and now I'll contribute! I've become grill-obsessed since I started doing this on my own this year. I'm always looking for fun ways to look at things or make things more entertaining. I ran across this grilling infographic a few weeks ago and thought it was pretty cool. Infographics are going to be my next obsession. Some of these things are just too cool.

I look forward to participating here with you all and hope that maybe someone can help provide some insight into my winter propane issue!

Thanks!

Welcome aboard Diana! Like Tony I grill year around, but don't own a gas grill.
But if you check this forum this topic may have already been discussed or just
ask away and I am sure you will get loads of help.

Hi Diana, welcome aboard. You just can't beat the taste of steaks grilled over a nice charcoal fire.
