New Valve

I've been looking for a old gasser on CL to refurbish. In reading an add today it said that it had the old type valve and would need to be converted to the hook up for the new propane tanks.

How would one do that? Is there a converter? Do you get a new regulator/hose assembly from Weber?

What other kinds of things do I need to be aware of in trying to refurbish an old gasser. Is it hard to get parts or does Weber pretty much stock old parts?

Weber sells replacement regulator hose combos for about $25. I also see them listed on Amazon for less.

Weber also carries the grates, flavorizer bars and burners as well as various other parts. You may be able to find the parts for less elsewhere such as ebay, craigslist or even local stores such as Ace Hardware and Home Depot.

With a little luck the grill will require more elbow grease than parts. If lots of parts require replacing, cost can add up pretty fast.

Thanks. Not too worried about the cost of parts. The cheapest gasser is $399. This is used for $100 and I did a quick summary of parts and grates, bars, burner and ignighter for most grills would still be under $200 if you needed to do a pretty complete rebuild. This one looks to be in pretty good shape but I don't see how you could go wrong given how expensive the new ones are.

Apperciate the insight on the valve!
