Picked up an old Genesis (I think) on CL for $20

After an hour of elbow grease

I bought some high heat paint for the black, and I know Weber CS can help me with parts.

Any advice from the forum? This is my first gasser but not my first Weber CL project.

You've got a nice collection going.

How do the burners, flavorizer bars, and grates? I haven't had to replace burners so I can't help you there but I'd go with stainless steel flavorizer bars and either cast iron of the stainless steel rod type grates.

I think the shelves on yours were the wood slat type. I just saw a replacement set of those shelves in a local Ace hardware. Didn't check the price but they had some other older weber stuff marked down. Might be worth a check in your area.

Good luck and have fun!

if you look under the gas knob panel you will see a tag on it. use thgis and call weber and they will be able to tell you what you have. did it have a side burner on it ?

Like that red performer. My wife found our Genesis 2000 at a local garage sale for $35 ~ 8 years ago. I've since replaced the burner tubes, valves with a new regulator, grates & flavorizer bars both (SS), drip pan & rails and igniter. And because every original nut or bolt was rusty with every item replaced, it was replaced with SS. I replaced my wood tables with stock from the orange store. Recently my grill started to lean to the right. It turned out to be two rusty lower bottom frame rails. I called Weber directly and as luck would have it, they had replacements! Your new grill looks a lot better for the cleaning. My local Ace Hardware has many parts too. Good Luck.

Thanks for the advice!! I will be on the phone with Weber tomorrow.
I'll come back and update when its all done.
