We just moved into our first house last week from a co-op that did not allow any type of out door grilling. We lived there for 6 years and now that I am 'free' the first item on the shopping list was a grill. I was eyeing the performer ever since I started researching grills. Came upon this site and just read every post I could.

Last Thursday we went to Home Depot and I made my purchase.

This Sunday I cooked up some RSC with sides of corn and asparagus. Came out great! This weekend I want to try some ribs.

This is a great site and I'm looking forward to learning!!

Thanks,
dr

Welcome, Dennis!

I just bought my first Performer a couple weeks ago. It's incredibly versatile. I'm still learning how she behaves, but so far, I'm extremely impressed.

You will be extremely happy with the Performer, and it will give you many years of fun cooking.

What other Weber grills are you going to add to your family

Well done Dennis, you set yourself up very nicely, enjoy it! RSC is something else isnt it? Look forward to your posts when you do ribs and more

Welcome Dennis! Great choice on the performer. I know how you feel, it is sooo very liberating to have a charcoal grill in your OWN home! The possibilities are endless. You will love being here on this site, everyone is wonderful and so willing to help.

Welcome to the performer world. Love the photo. You have all the essentials to get you going. Send some picks of your grilling efforts.

Oh yeah Dennis, sorry I missed the pic of your purchases! Good going, all the grilling essentials there! That's how I roll, buy the whole package. Go big or go home! You may also want to try Royal Oak lump, it tastes really good. I buy it at Walmart.

Dang! You're not messing around! Congrats on your purchase. You'll absolutely love your performer. I know I love mine. Just be warned that it can turn into an addiction and one can quickly turn into many!

Dennis, you are going to love this!! Grilling on the Performer is great fun (especially after not being able to grill for a long while). I love mine!

that's a nice shopping trip!

YMMV, but I had pretty poor luck with cowboy lump coal. But that doesn't mean that you will have issues with them.

IMHO, I would return them, head to Lowes and get a bag of Stubbs charcoal. Till you get a good feel for your grill, then try lump wood (Royal Oak made in USA seems to be the choice – I’m Wicked Good Lump fan) ... but once again, that's just me.

Anyway, good times ahead

Great start, Dennis! Just remember that all that neat equipment doesn't mean a thing if you don't use it. Keep a fire in that sucker and let us know how it's working!

Thanks for the warm welcome! Bit of a cross post (I posted this under the RSC thread too), but here's a pic of my first time out.

I grilled up some rib eyes last night. I love how easy the performer is to use.

Might try some foil ribs this weekend...

Thanks,
dr

I just bought a Weber Performer last week. I'm lovin' it! You made an excellent choice.

For me it's been a bit of a learning curve as I've been using a gas grill for many years. Last nite's chicken was undercooked but it sure did taste good.

Tonite is strip steak nite!

My performer is my go to grill when I want to use charcoal. The work surface is really convenient. Of course, the table sees use when I'm using one of my other Webers s well. I think you've made an excellent choice and I hope you enjoy your Weber as much as I enjoy mine.
