new one-touch platinum

Just bought a new one-touch platinum; rolled the lid back on the metal holder to check it out and lid is now scratched -- before the first use.

Anyone else have this problem? Any suggestion on a remedy so I don't have to buy a new lid once a year?? Thanks for any suggestions.

Call Weber CS and complain. I know I would. Maybe something is missing or not installed right?
I have a slide-aside on my OTG and that has never scratched my lid.

I would definitely call weber. More than likely they'll send you a new lid under their warranty.

Maybe posting some pics here might allow us to offer some help as to fixing the problem.

Unfortunately, this grill will not go down in Weber history as a classic. I personally hate the design of the slide aside on this grill. The front handle feels cheap, and when you slide the lid back, it doesnt feel stable. Weber also priced this grill very poorly when it came out. I think it was like 259.00. You could spend a little more and have a Performer with gas assist. I dont think this design will be around much longer. Ok, Im done ranting about this grill! Did I mention I don't like it! Bring back the old Platinum!

I agree! Not crazy about the new platinum.

i looked at the new platinum and did not care for it at all. I loved my old style platinum. But then i sold that and got the greatest grill of all. THE PERFORMER.
