I've been reading the forums here for quite a while, but this is my first post. I'm finally learning to love BBQ. I've owned a little Smokey Joe for as long as I can remember but hardly ever used it. Last summer I purchased an electric smoker on clearance from Costco and that's where it all began. I started with pulled pork, then ribs, and loins. Over the winter I decided to get an 18" WSM to try smoking with charcoal. Love it! However, my first brisket turned out just OK. I still need lots of practice with brisket. Over the summer I splurged and got a top of the line Weber Performer. It's FANTASTIC! It's the best grill I've ever owned. On the weekends we like to cook tri tip sous vide and then finish it by searing it on the grill. I'll usually then grill up a bunch of boneless chicken thighs to help get us through the week without cooking too much after work. This makes my wife very happy.
Yesterday, I was in the BBQ section of Walmart, and I noticed they had a 14" WSM on clearance for $99. I don't think I've ever seen Weber stuff on sale. Yes, our back patio is already pretty full with grills and smokers, but at $99 I just couldn't pass it up. Since it's just the wife and I, I figure I may actually end up using it more than its bigger brother. Anyway, to make a long story short, I spend a lot of time searching on the forums here and have you all to blame for my new addiction! Even the Smokey Joe is starting to see more action these days.
Thanks,
Ken
