Hey! For a year or two, I thought I wanted a BGE. I read the Reddit group and the forums. Never cared much for the BGE lingo (EGGcelent, etc.), but thought, well, all right, I don't have to get that crazy. Went in to buy one a couple of weeks ago only to be snubbed by the hardware store clerk--lazy, maybe, or didn't want to deal with women--fine. That caused me to do a little more research into the WSM. Long story short, I'm waiting on mine to be delivered (Thursday, if all goes according to plan).

I'm very, very excited to start grilling but, more especially, actually barbecuing. So....I'll be sneaking around in the shadows and doing a lot of reading. Thank you very much to both the admin of what looks to be an excellent site and especially to the admin and all of you for being so willing to share your knowledge.

Hi Bryn & welcome to the forum! No need to stay in the shadows. Ask any/all questions you want. BGE cookers are nice but I think the WSM (especially the 18 and 22") is more versatile. What size WSM did you buy? What do you think you might cook first?

Our fearless host and moderator (Chris) has a lot of great advice that you can go grab without weeding thru all of our posts. You probably already found it but if not, it's on a different website which is www.virtualweberbullet.com. Here's a link for info applicable to those that are brand new to the WSM https://www.virtualweberbullet.com/seasoning-new-weber-bullet/

Good luck & happy smoking!

Welcome Bryan. Another Washingtonian here. The WSM is a great little cooker, and I am sure you will turn out some great meals.

I went with the 22 since I doubt I'll ever think, "Dang! If only I had less cooking area!" :D And yes, thank you, I did find the virtual wb bullet site and I'm avidly reading away there, too.

Thanks so much for the welcome!

Welcome to TVWBB!
You certainly are diving right in with the 22" WSM, that thing is a beast!

Hi Bryn, Welcome! You'll find lots of great info and advice here. I've encountered your hardware store experience
many times, including on some forums. Eh, not gonna let them ruin our cooking fun, are we?
(Also - the 22! Wow, you don't mess around! (y))

Nope, it's Bryn. In Wales it's a man's name, but my Dad was worried my brothers would get teased, so I got it, instead. (Thanks, Dad!)

And thanks, Brenda! No, no we are not. We're going to get in there and cook with the best of them!
