New build - blower and damper not running

Hi all,

Need some help with a brand new build. I've got a HeaterMeter 4.3 with a Pi Zero W. Damper/fan config (adapt-a-damper) using a SG90 servo. Wired the damper and fan to an Ethernet jack. I have a short Ethernet cable running from the damper/fan case to the HeaterMeter. Everything worked great until I got to testing the fan/damper (following Bryan's instructional video) while in manual mode so I can play with the speed. As soon as I raise the speed percentage, the screen flashes then goes off, the LEDs all blink and then the screen comes back on. The damper and fan do nothing. I'm using a CAT 5e connector at the damper/fan housing. The wiring is a little different than the CAT 6 connector shown on the HeaterMeter wiki instructions, but I triple checked that I have everything correct. Also, the same thing happens without the damper/fan connected to the HeaterMeter. This leads me to believe something is going on with the HeaterMeter board? Any ideas on how to troubleshoot?

Standard answer: Trace out the connections from the BLW pin of the microcontroller to the MOSFET to the blower. It is often Q1 damaged in some way or not connected

In your case, because it reboots when the blower turns on, it might also be a short between legs of the MOSFET, or the BLOW pin on the RJ45 output jack is shorted to the GND.

It was a short between the BLOW pin on the RJ45 output to GND. Fixed it and now it's working. Thank you Bryan!
