NE Hurricane and a Butt Cook

So 30-50mph winds are supposed hit western CT this evening around 2am. I am chartered with cooking 2 butts for my wife's client. And intended to start at midnight for 7pm dinner.

My smoker sits on a wood deck atop 4 concrete pavers. I don't have any heat resistant rope to tie off the smoker.

I am thinking that I will fire up the cooker at midnight still and smoke for as long as I think I can with enough time to get the coals out ahead of the storm, dousing with water as a last ditch if I cut it to close.

Then finish the rest of the cook in the oven

This will be my first oven cook...comments/tips/suggestions? How much lower, if at all, shall I set my expectations?

not sturdy enough to where I could sleep comfortably.

2am and no wind to speak of yet...another game of NCAA 2008 College Football and we will see where its at.

at 7am the wind kicked up enough to jump my temp from 230 to 270 in just a couple of minutes, that along with the Radar showing a large band of rain moving in prompted me to put the butts in the stove and hit the hay.

Now at noon still no rain and no more wind really according to the wife. But the Radar shows that band bearing down on us....we shall see ... prepping Keri's Hog Apple Beans right now which will make it all better....
