Hi all.
Just wanted to spread the word that the National BBQ Festival is coming back to Eisenhower Park on Father’s Day weekend (June 13, 14 and 15). For those in the competition scene for a while, you may recall this event took place in Douglas, Georgia about 14 years ago. Well, it's back and the event team is working with the original event organizers, Kell and Janet Phelps of NBBQA and BBQ News Magazine, to ensure it runs smoothly. There are two competitions going on....Friday, June 13th: SCA & Ancillaries - Double Steak, Wings, LI Iced Tea and Meatballs (Yes, meatballs because everyone in NY is a little Italian!). On Saturday, June 14th, the NBF Competition categories include: Whole Hog, Pork, Ribs, Brisket and Chicken. Total purse is $100K - the largest in the NE. We are also looking for judges and you can even take a judges class to become qualified if you're not. There's a lot going on for non-competitors too - Live fire area where you can eat tons of bbq samples from talent like Tuffy Stone, Thyron Matthews, Marc Bynum, Sunny Moody, Captain Ron, Phil the Grill and more. There will be demos and live music every night...Warren G of 90's hip hop fame is performing on Saturday night (he's also competing). Tons of marketplace vendors to shop from if you're looking for new sauces or rubs to try. It's going to be amazing. Check out all the details, including competition rules here: nationalbbqfest.com
