N00b question here. I really need some advice

Cooking my first butts today. I was nervous about an overnight cook, so I got up at 3am to start

I've run into a prob,em. Was I not supposde to start drinking as soon as I started? I thiught that was supposed to be part of the experience.

Well Scott, assuming you are not kidding, I would get some coffee. As someone who doesn't drink I can tell you that it is great fun sober. Probably safer to man a pit sober to. That being said, welcome and good luck with your cook.

Yea, you are. Either Bloody Mary's or screwdrivers on those early morning cooks..switch over to beer at daybreak and then the harder stuff a few hours later...........................d

I like to get all the stuff done that requires sharp knives and fire and all that and then set down with a nice adult beverage...but I'm very conservative .
