My WSM Cart

Can anyone speak to my OTG being supported by the handle tabs?[/QUOTE]

My Bro did the same thing on a table he built about 15 yrs ago and they support it just fine.

Sorry, way late to this discussion. Built my own cart similar to Stefans. However, the floor where the WSM sits is open to allow airflow . The feet of the unit sit on a rim running the perimeter of that opening.I covered the inside walls with reflectix(?). Its a reflective barrier of some kind. One of the biggest problems I have is adding lit coals to the unit. When the bottom part is full of charcoal and seated the drop from the top to the bowl is significant enough to have coals hitting and dropping around the outside of the charcoal. Usually, I go back and pick them up and place back on the pile.In hindsight, I think I would put a hinged lip over the front access door. I could lift this up when the front door was open to get closer to the unit to add my lit. Just food for thought. Nice design by the way.

Paul, Have you tried devising a chute such as Tim did in this thread (great pics)? http://tvwbb.com/eve/forums/a/...191058906#5191058906

This is the kind of thing I suggested in passing earlier in this thread -- Tim had the same idea.

I was just planning out in this exact enclosure today in my head. Really nice design it seems to me. I'm wondering how your project is coming along? I hope to start mine in the next few weeks.

Hey Jamie,
Well the cart is moving right along. When i asked my friend to help me build this cart i had no idea what a perfectness he was. I knew he did great work, but WOW. Lets just say we are 20+ hours into this.

Anyways it's all built using mortise and tenon joints. There will not be a single screw in this cart outside of the hinges on the front doors and top.

Here's a couple pic's of where we (he's) at.

Just has the doors, floor, top, side-tables, caster wheels left to do. Oh, and then stain / weather proof it.

Going to be the most well built cart in western Canada.

Stefan, you do realize after awhile what your cart is going to look like unless you thoroughly clean it after every cook. Are you going to keep this outdoors? Did mine out of treated lumber. Weighs a ton. I enjoy the work space but if I had to do over again I'd buy a WSM 22 with a cover and a cheap table to go beside it.

Your bud is doing a fine job. But counting them plys that looks like cabinet grade plywood.
No offense, but that wouldn't be my choice for an exterior build.
Its still a cool cart and I hope everything works out for you.

@ Paul - It will be kept outdoors and i have a bbq cover that will fit over it . Also have a nice Corona umbrella that will be integrated into the cart for when it's raining while cooking. Also have a aluminum table that will be close at all times.

It's made out of Baltic Birch plywood.
