Just finished my first restoration of a Weber Genesis 1000! It started as a free natural gas grill on the side of the road.
My family was going to by a new Weber at the end of the season. This caught my eye and I had to have it. My girlfriend who helped me get it in the car though it was crazy.
I had lots of questions and this forum kept popping up with the answers. I also realized I was not the only crazy one.
I did a full tear down, scrubbed, sanded, power washed, painted. Had to replace the threaded inserts on the 1 inch cross bar. Got a slide bar and flip table, a propane holder and manifold from a donor grill. I used 1 x 2 oak from the hardware store. I stained with pecan and covered with spar urethane.
Only thing left I want to do is the logo.
Thank you to everyone for the help! Any positive/negative is welcome.
